Joie is a thoughtful and result-oriented advocate.
Joie is developing a diverse litigation practice. Prior to joining Tyr, Joie volunteered at Justice for Children and Youth and completed her articles at Stikeman Elliott LLP.
Joie completed her J.D. at the University of Toronto's Faculty of Law. In addition to her law degree, Joie holds an H.B.A. from the Ivey School of Business as well as a Bachelor of Medical Sciences.
Joie is part of Pro Bono Ontario's Education Law Project and provides pro bono assistance to low and moderate income families facing challenges to their rights in schools.
Joie was heavily involved with extracurricular and philanthropic initiatives while in law school, including gaining advocacy experience volunteering for Law in Action Within Schools, writing for the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, and working as a Research Assistant on homelessness policy. She also completed a practicum at the Canadian Coalition for the Rights of Children, where she wrote a paper analyzing the impact of COVID-19 on the right to education.
She is conversant in Mandarin.
