Life Sciences & Pharmaceutical Litigation

Our trial-tested litigators are subject-matter experts who know how to win complex life sciences and pharmaceutical disputes.

Tyr’s trial and appellate lawyers have a sophisticated understanding of the subject-matter underlying life sciences disputes and the complex regulatory framework in which our clients operate. Our intellectual property litigators hold degrees in biochemistry, genetics, chemistry, and life sciences disciplines, and have virtually unmatched trial experience.

Our lawyers have represented numerous leading multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in actions involving pharmaceuticals, biologics, vaccines, and medical and assistive devices. In doing so, we provide coordinated domestic, cross-border and global litigation strategies to protect the interests of our clients.

Tyr’s IP litigators have acted in many Canadian patent “firsts”, including the first biologic dispute and first biosimilar dispute. Our lawyers have extensive experience litigating cases under the Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) Regulations including damages actions resulting therefrom.

We represent clients in an array of pharmaceutical and life sciences disputes, including patent infringement and validity actions as well as judicial challenges of patent listing decisions, data protection decisions, regulatory decisions, formulary listings, and access-to-information decisions. We also advise clients on drug pricing matters including representing clients in investigations and hearings before the Patented Medicine Prices Review Board.

Tyr’s IP litigators are consistently recognized in Chambers, Lexpert, Benchmark, Managing IP's IP Stars, Legal 500, Best Lawyers, Lexology Index, IAM Global Leaders, and IAM Patent 1000.
